Telescope and Astronomy Kit
A telescope making and astronomy kit to create a fun stargazing activity with your favourite small creative curious person! A brilliant and thoughtful gift.
More and more we just want to spend quality time with our kids don't we? So finding something fun and engaging that our children can enjoy and we can share in together is brilliant!
It's exactly why we designed our Astronomical Adventure kit. A pack full of fun that Mum or Dad and the kiddo can do together. And then you have a bit of bonus "stay up late" time to see the stars!
The kit includes:
A "make your own" working telescope with 6.5 magnification - the same magnification as Galileo himself used when he discovered four moons orbiting Jupiter!
The telescope is straightforward to make with comprehensive instructions but can be a little fiddly when glueing the lenses in place. We recommend the grown-up does that part.
A poster of well-known constellations observable from the UK. Use this illustration to help you find the constellations and then hang as a print when your activity is over.
Some fun, space-themed conversation starters for extra giggles that have been printed on gorgeous silver backed paper. You can have a lot of fun during your stargazing session answering questions like "how long would it take to travel to the moon by hot air balloon?" and "what are stars made of?" Take turns and give yourself points for the most original, the most silly, or the most convincing answers.
Once you're finished with the questions, this sheet can be trimmed into strips following the dotty cut lines and turned into beautiful origami mini stars. Full instructions are included. It's so easy once you have got the knack, and they make beautiful decorative details.
A space fact sheet about planets and constellations so you can get super clever about it all.
Then as a keepsake and reminder of the fun you had together, we've included a star-shaped keyring that says "we are all made of star stuff".
made from:
This stargazing fun pack is made from paper, card and stardust (everything is essentially stardust though, right?)
The cardboard telescope parts “pop” out from a printed card template. You then get to build a working telescope yourself with the two enclosed lenses and some glue (not provided)
dimensions:
As a clearance item, there's no Kraft envelope with this kit. Just all the bits you need to make the telescope and all the posters and the keyring.
Please note: this kit is not a toy and requires adult participation.
Adult supervision and assistance is required. Glue is not included in the activity for safety reasons, you will need to provide your own glue.
Whilst all children will enjoy the star gazing part of this activity, we estimate that those over the age of 8 will get the most educational benefit.
Not suitable for children under the age of 5 - Contains small parts that could be a choking hazard. Should be used with adult supervision
