Anthology 02 - 6th August

Aug 8, 2021

And a very good Friday afternoon to you!

Did you get a fleeting week of sunshine last month, and then poof, it disappeared? Us too.

Honestly, it feels less odd to be thinking about Christmas when it's raining outside (and Christmas is our main focus now!) but it would be nice to see a few more hot days before we admit that summer is on its way out.

If you happen to be in London, or heading there over the summer, I found a weatherproof, soulful way to spend an hour in the shape of an immersive Van Gogh Experience.

Not to confuse you, but there are currently TWO different Van Gogh experiences in London. I guess that's what happens when no-one owns the exclusive rights to his images!

The one I went to was Van Gogh Alive in Kensington Gardens - just opposite the Royal Albert Hall. It's there until September when it moves on to Manchester and I can thoroughly vouch for the quality of the pastries and hot chocolates in the garden cafe afterward!

Lightly animated and set to music, his most famous works of art are supersized and projected all around you. The way he saw the world takes my breath away.

It's suitable for all ages and my top tip is to try and go in the first or second slot of the morning. It's slightly cheaper and much quieter than later in the day.

Van Gogh Experience
Betsy Benn in development
Totally inspired by Van Goghs cobalt blues, we finally finished the new birdcage Christmas decorations!

I'm so pleased with how they have come out and the team are now in full on production mode, getting all the composite parts made and ready to go. We've also had confirmation that they have been chosen to be part of the notonthehighstreet.com Christmas campaign so we're expecting to be quite busy with them!

I'd love to know what you think.

On studio days radio is king (normally 6Music), but this week I've been working from home a little more and I do love a podcast! They're fab to have playing in the background while I work and I have a long list of favourites, but this one - oh my - this one stopped me from working completely.
Mantis shrimp how we see colour radiolab
I had to down tools and just focus on all the juicy, mind-blowing, geeky info about how we see colour. And then I had to make a cup of tea and listen to it again. And then I had to send links to all my geeky colour friends and listen to it again.

It's an hour long - so it's no exaggeration to say I lost half a day to this podcast. Click on the picture of the Mantis Shrimp above to listen, you will LOVE it. The shrimp reference will make sense during the podcast.

Have a wonderful weekend. If you have any great plans then let me know on my Instagram stories
